What is the average mpg of a old vw bug?

You know, the old, classic vw bugs. What is the average mile per gallon? Thanks.|||Realy depends on the year since the engine size increased over the years. If you just want the purely stock mpg just check out the owners manuals : http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manu鈥?/a>

Look in the tech section of the manual.|||Even with a small engine, they were't that good on gas. About 25 mpg.|||http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Vol鈥?/a>|||In the 20's, like 25 mpg. A friend of mine had one, then I had a '72.|||In 1937 when those cute little bugs were being invented by Hitler the gas mileage on these were some where around 6 to 10 MPG

and sold for $895.00 each..|||19 to 23 mpg is what i averaged in my four bugs over the years.|||My 65 averaged around 20-25 with both the stock(1200) and hi-performance engine(1775).|||They got anywhere between 18 and 35 dependnig on how you drove em and how good the engine was. As they wore out, things got sloppy and used more power
