How much did the classic VW beetles manufactured in Mexico sell for?

They recently quit manufacturing the old classic VW bugs that were made in Mexico.. does anyone know what they were charging for them in American dollars at the time?|||during the production up until 2003 they were going for about $7,000. back in 1967 when they were manufactured in Germany they were priced at $1,640 new. thats about $10,521 today.
