How do you convert a VW motor to a aircraft motor?

Im tring to restore a Cessna Twin Engine and I saw on Ebay a VW motor converted to a aircraft motor, just wondering how that works.|||The only airplane to routinely use a VW engine was the VP-1 and VP-2 (Volksplane); a wooden homebuilt, see www.eaa.org.|||He said while he was looking for engines for his conversion he happened to spot a vw aircraft engine, and was curious as to what was involved. He did not say he was planning to use it for his project, and if he can rebuild a twin engine Cessna, I'm sure he already knows that.

|||In addition to what Ronald said, I think you have to fabricate a propeller hub to attach to the flywheel. It also requires fabricating an exhaust system suitable for aviation. Do an internet search on VW conversion for aviation and you will find enough information to convert one yourself. There are other engines commonly converted including Corvair, Mazda rotary, etc. They are only used in Experimental aircraft.|||You can't legally put a VW motor on a Cessna of any sort.

You can put them on non-certificated aircraft.

Typically they involve coming up with a mount and reworking the ignition.

Some VW conversions actually remove two of the cylinders.|||Converted VW engines have been used on many homebuilt airplanes, but they wouldn't have sufficient power for any twin Cessna, nor can they be used on any certificated aircraft.|||Looks like another TROLL question guys and gals. A VW engine for a Cessna Twin Engine aircraft? Nobody could be THAT stupid. Joined today. doesn't accept em's and im's. Has Mike Beech imposter-troll written all over it.|||Even if it was legal, it is an exceptional bad idea.
