What kind of stereo will fit into a 1974 VW Super Beetle?

Hi, I am finishing up a restoration of a 1974 VW super beetle. I got wider fenders on the front and back, along with wider tires and wheels, lowered 4-5 inches, and has a $17,000 paint job on it. I am now toward the end of the build, and am in need of a stereo that will fit into the stock spot. I want something loud! Thanks!|||It is difficult to estimate what size and type of stereo would fit into the stock spot, as there are so many different brands and models.

To ensure that the stereo would fit exactly into the space on the dash, it is advisable that you take the car to a stereo shop %26amp; get them to find one that will fit into the space.

The "loudness" would depend on the power of the speakers, and that too could be checked out if you go personally.|||As the first response says, any DIN stereo should fit. If in doubt, measure the radio opening in your dash and compare with the specifications of your desired brand and model. The tech nerds at most electronics stores will try to convince you that you need a Pioneer or Kenwood because they are "smaller and fit better in 'little cars', but that is just because they are more expensive (I haven't had any problems with any one of my 6 Sony products and they are about 1/2 the price). In the end, just choose whatever you want. I have also found that JC Whitney sells a glovebox that you can install a stereo in. Amazon has great deals when you are ready to buy. Just a few thoughts...|||Any single DIN radio should fit. You may have to cut the dash opening however.
