I've been told that VW vans ("hippie vans", samba, splitty, etc) aren't very good everyday cars because they're slow and just mediocre. Is there a way to make them faster, ride like a normal van?|||Yepper, just put a WRX engine in where the old air cooled engine was. plumb in a radiator, upgrade the fuel system then let her rip.
Now handling is a different matter and so is the ride, but you will have a lot more power.|||the old vw engines were not known for power or speed. if you want either by something else. or do what i want to do to a karmanghia. drop a chevy 350 into it and just drive.|||Get an engine that is stronger and more modern.
