How hard is it to find parts for a 1974 VW Beetle?

I'm considering buying a 1974 VW Beetle that has been restored for the most part. It has 130,000 original miles on it and if I bought it it would be my everyday car. I was wondering how hard it was to maintain it and how hard and costly the parts are to find.|||Not difficult! There are lots of aftermarket parts available.

They are for the most part not even expensive. Traditionally this has been partly due to the fact that they continued to make them in Mexico and Brazil for years after they stopped here.

It's easy to verify this by going online. You'll see several sites that sell restoration parts.

However, VW stopped making air-cooled models for Mexico (and I think Brasil), so this situation might change a bit in the future.|||You could try junk yards or ebay. Shouldn't be too hard to find as they started popping back up into circulation when the new beetles came out.|||http://www.jcwhitney.com

Good luck|||super inexpensive and available everywhere..

the low cost of maintenance ..and the fact anyone can do it,

is why the bug is the most popular car of all time|||to the jackass that said parts are hard to find, all you have to do is look. every thing is cheap and easy to get ahold of. why the heck do you think there are so many old school bugs still on the road? parts are easy to get, the problem is, sometimes, the quality is not great on aftermarket stuff. just get good brands, and they are pretty good old cars. lots of fun to drive, as well.|||Very costly parts and extremely hard to find. Good luck.

Oh, and by the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! in 6 days
