How much would a paint job for a VW Beetle cost?

I want to get a 1970s VW beetle but it desperately needs a paint job, how much would that cost? If I wanted a cheaper job would it look bad?|||There are many variables when painting a car. Here are a few.


1st of all, a cheap paint job will cost abt. $400. All they do is spray paint the car with an inferior grade and do not spend much time prepping before they spray. This paint will have some runs and 'orange peel' , and will last abt. 1 year before the paint starts flaking off.


For about $1000 you can get much better quality. And it will last much longer.


Now this depends on how much rust or dents is on the car too. The more 'bad metal' there is on the car the costlier the work is. With the help of a friend who is knowlegeable you could do the prep work yourself. Saves a lot of $$. Then take it to a shop for painting.


Or you could take it to a Pro Shop that specializes in doing custom work and they will cost you abt. $5000 . But it will look really good and last a long time.


So you can see there are a lot of things to consider when painting.


Just remember, you get what you pay for.....
