I just got my first car, an old 1998 VW Jetta GLS, which was originally dark green, but the paint is now chipping and such (I think because of the lacation of the car was close to the ocean maybe?), so I want to repaint it black, does anyone have any idea of about how much it will charge me?|||i own a repair shop,and starting price for a good paint job is around 800 bucks right now,and they usually charge another 200 to change the color on one also,there's a lot of extra work involved in doing this,,you could be looking at 1500 bucks real easy here to do this,and every shop is different also,they all have different labor rates ,so the price can vary a lot from one shop to another,good luck,i hope this help,s.|||your welcome.

|||$100 apprx for paint if you do it youself with a brush.|||Anywhere from about $300 -$1500 depending on the quality of the paint and workmanship. Most of the cost is in prep work like masking and removing trim and lights.|||About as much as the car is worth, for a good paint job. Save your money for your next car.
