What is the diffrence between a 2000 vw Gti and a vw gti Wolfsburg edition?

I was just wondering what the diffrence is between a 2000 VW GTI 2.8 2 door manual wolfsburg edition and the regular 2000 VW GTI ....|||wolfsburg is where they make them in germany and those are still assmbled in mexico not in germany|||no Wolfsburg GTI.

Wolfsburg is a trim level

GTI is a trim level

although late model GTI's are made at V-dubs Wolfsburg manufacturing facility in Germany|||Well first of all there is no such things as a GTI Wolfsburg Edition. The only "Wolfsburg Edition" MK4 platform Volkswagen (jetta, beetle, golf) was the 2001 and 2003 Jetta, and they were made in Mexico. From experience owning a German made GTI, and now owning a Mexican made Jetta...there really is no difference in quality. I mean it just depends on the luck of the draw. Ive seen lemon German made GTIs and Lemon Brazilian made GTIs. You will probably hear more bad things about the Mexican/Brazilian made Golfs/Jettas but thats because the MK4 was no longer produced in German for the US market after 2001, except for the Jetta wagon in which was always produced in Germany. But all Golfs/GTIs were produced in Germany for the US market until mid 2001 in which it was switched over to Brazil. But to answer your question......in that year the GTI with a 2.8l VR6 was the GLX which had rain sensing wipers, climatronic and a bunch of other standard luxury features. The other GLS GTIs came in either a 2.0, or 1.8t for 2000. There was never really a GL GTI as VW never gave that trim level to the GTI. But the "GL" GTI would in reality be the Golf GL. VWs are always confusing at first.|||From what experience I have had with V-Dubs, wolfsberg edition means that it was manufactured in Germany where the regular VW was built in Mexico.

People say that there is no difference, but you can tell in the quality of the car. If your VIN # starts with the # 3 then it was manufactured in Mexico if it starts with the letters VWV then it was made in Germany.

The parts are all the same, it just seems that it is better quality when it is made in Germany.

I have found that my previous VW that were German made were more durable then the two Mexico made V-dubs that bought.

Standards of quality are obviously higher in Germany then they would be in Mexico.

Would you buy a Mercedes from Mexico or Germany? Why? Obvious the reason, don't you think?

Hope that helps, stick to German made.
