How do you remove the front seats from a 1966 VW Beetle? How do you remove the upholstery? Some of the inside springs sound and feel loose. I want to tighten them up.|||To remove the seats, reach under the seat and disconnect the spring that aids the seat slide to the rear. It may be missing over time. Hold the adjustment lever while sliding the seat foreward. A helper pushing from the back may be necessary. Be sure to lubricate the seat tracks with a white lithium grease prior to reinstallation, to aid in installation/adjustment.
The seat springs that feel loose may be broken. Replacement seat spring bases are available, or you can take them to a professional to have individual springs replaced. It's not the type of job the average DIY'er can do at home.
Seat covers are held in place, for the most part by hogs rings. You should be able to get a set, complete with a special plier for installing them from the same place you bought your covers.|||Firstly slide the seat back as far as it will go. If you look in the seat tracks between your legs you will see a phillips head screw near the centre of the car. Take that out and the stop that it holds. Then get out of the car seat and slide your hand over to the center off the car to hold the lever open so the seat slides forward and go right up to the steering wheel. The seat will be off its track. Then you can flip them over and take a look.|||I needed someone in the back to push with their knees and I would pull the adjuster. They would slide right under the steering wheel.
Once off, you can turn them upside down and see the guts. The material is held on with hog rings and can be replaced with the same stuff from a hardware store.|||Removing: they just slide forward. May be sticky.

Springs and upholstry I don't know. Yet.|||Take them to a shop to do. It is quite difficult.
