How can I get the terrible smell out of my 72 VW van?

I just bought a 1972 VW van that had been sitting for about a year outside near a field. It is completly stripped and so the smell is not coming from any certain place3 in specific. The previous owner told me that mice had gotten into it, but the smell is much worse than a years worth of mice. It smells like a combination of unrine and other things. Ive tried all the home remedies as well as buying deoderizers and airing the vehicle out! Please help!|||Your mice probably lived inside the ducts for the heater, so even after stripping out the interior and hosing it down, you will still get the smell. You should try Zeolites, a rock mineral that comes in mesh bags that you can place under the seats and it will absorb the Ammonia from the air.

You can remove the heater tubes from the engine to body and try to vacuum out any old mice droppings.|||Hi - a couple of things might help, like changing the carpeting and floor mats and cleaning out the heater ducts and air inlets. Washing the seats and/or upholstery may also help. Anyway here are some links for an info site I use for cleaning and getting rid of smells in the car. Hope it helps you.
